Literary Skill 7
I think Terry made the right decision about questioning his father on his experiences in Vietnam because of many reasons. First of all, Terry had the chance to know his father better by asking him about his past and how it effected. This is important because Terry knows more about his family's history and where he came from, which can help him understand one of the factors that shaped the person he is now. Secondly, by asking his father about his past, he helped his father realize the truth about himself. At first, his father was unhappy to talk about his experience in Vietnam, however after he finished talking, it helped him accept that it's the truth, and that's what happened. Finally, it helped Terry accept his father. At first, Terry was embarrassed by his father's weird habits, however after he found out what he has gone through, he understands and accepts his father.
